The Worlds Biggest Record Labels Their History And Their Artists

The world has always loved music and welcomed it with open arms into their homes through their stereo, their radios, anything they have. We love to listen to music while doing almost anything these days. We love to listen to music while stuck on the freeway in traffic, or while taking a campervan insurance ride down the pier. We will listen to music to pump us up to jog or exercise at the gym and give us that motorhome insurance runners high to keep going. Without music where would this world even be. Music has had a powerful influence over our culture, who we are, who we will become. It has been there when there was no money or things were too expensive people could turn to music for entertainment. Family’s will gather together and go to a donington park concert or watch a musical being performed on stage. Music has brought people together and made people happy for since anyone can remember. Music can simply be made almost through anything. Music would only be stuck though in their original  place still though without Record Labels. The worlds biggest record labels their history and their artists are companies that have taken artist’s and promoted them and blown them up so big that they are famous world wide and everyone knows who they are and what music they make. One of the biggest record labels in the world right now is Sony Music Entertainment. Sony is a familiar every day brand. Everyone knows the name Sony. They have been making household electronics for years including speakers, stereos, and mixers that bands have been using for years. They have also been one of the biggest promoters and most wanted record labels by aspiring artists. Sony was made through a company known as American Record Corporation. It was founded in 1929 and has been growing since. January 1, 1991 was the date the company’s name was officially changed to Sony Music Entertainment. Also on the same day Sony had reintroduced the Columbia Label Worldwide. This company was produced through Sony and another company formed in Spain called Bertelsmann Music Group. Though Later Sony had obtained this company for themselves. They formed together and made Sony BMG Music Group. Sony still continued operating through their Japanese Business. Later Sony gained BMG’s half of the company and regained full ownership making it once again Sony Music Entertainment. A couple of Sony’s Famous Artists are L. L. Cool J, Public Enemy, and EPMD. These are some of the artists that came up during Sony’s Def Jam recordings. The Def Jam Label was created by Russel Simmons in 1990 dedicated to expand the Def Jam family and their boutique and labels. Another Label Through Sony is Legacy Recordings. Legacy has done work for bands such as AC/DC, Adema, Adam Ant, Jannis Jopplin and more. These are bands that have been famous for years and still have had a big impact and are listened to today. Records like Def Jam also had a big impact on the motor racing skid training on the oil laden roads African American culture that at the time was fighting for equality right among themselves and others. Another World wide record label is the EMI Group. The EMI Group stands for Electric and Musical Industries Ltd. It is the fourth biggest record label and record company in the world today. The company is owned by Terra Firma Capital Partners. EMI Was formed in 1931 by the merger of the Columbia Graphophone Company and the Graphophone Company. They were formed to produce sound recordings and recording devices. These devices were some of the first to go out to the homes of Americans and fill their rooms with the lovely jingle that is playing on the radio or to tell you what the weather will be like for that day. When the company was first started it only was meant to produce music in the British Commonwealth regions. EMI was bought out by Terra Firma Capital Partners after a major loss was suffered by losing millions of dollars from sales dropping to the lowest and almost going out of business for EMI. A couple of musicians that were signed on to EMI Records were Nat King Cole, Dick James, Elvis Presley, and Dina Shore. These were some of the Musicians signed on before the 1960′s. Also including bands like the Beach Boys and The Beatles. These are bands that influence the world. A large company that is very familiar to most family’s who watch television, listen to music, or watch movies would be the Warner Music Group. This is a branch of the company The Warner Brothers dedicated to promoting aspiring stars and making them famous for the world to know. Warner Music Group broke off of Warner Brothers Music Studio in 1958 to start its own label and star promoting artists. Warner Bros later moved to Canada and started a Canadian group in 1967. Warner Bros was later sold to the company known as Seven Arts Productions in 1967 form in a joint company Warner Bros-Seven Arts. They then purchased Atlantic Records which has now become one of WMG’s oldest labels. Now Warner has come back and has joined with AOL the internet company and formed Time-Warner Cable and internet. Warner Bros has produced a lot of the music that we have come to know and love today. Warner has produced some bands such as Gnarls Barkley, Angels and Airwaves, Big & Rich, and Johnny Cash. Once again these bands are still famous today. Warner Bros has been promoting these bands for years and brought them up from nothing. These Record company’s have changed peoples lives and have probably changed your life in some way too. They have brought music into our homes into our heads. Companies such as Sony has been bringing us the acoustics that we need to be able to enjoy this music with our families. These artists have had music where anything can truly hit you. The beats the lyrics the guitars can all make you feel some way that you never thought they could. Music has been one of the most impacting inventions in the world.
